My pronouns are: she/her/hers
Hi, and welcome!
I’m a licensed psychologist and the founder of Tella Psychology, a therapy practice based in North Dallas and available online across 42+ states through PSYPACT. My practice is built on the belief that true healing happens when we address the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.
I specialize in helping adults and teens who struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, trauma, burnout, or sleep difficulties. My approach is individualized, and I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy.
Many of my clients look successful on the outside but carry an inner critic, patterns of worry, or a feeling of never being good enough. They’ve often tried therapy before and walked away disappointed, feeling like it was all talk without lasting change. My approach is different: I combine a compassionate approach with direct, honest feedback and evidence-based strategies, so we don’t waste your time.
I won’t rush you or push you out the door. Therapy unfolds at your pace. I know that the parts of you that feel “too much” or “not enough” probably developed for a reason, and they’re often running on an outdated operating system. Our work helps you update that system so you can feel more aligned, confident, and connected in your daily life.
Therapy is an investment that requires more than financial resources; it takes time, effort, and emotional commitment. But if you’re ready to invest in yourself, the rewards can be life-changing, setting you on a path to greater peace, fulfillment, and lasting growth. I believe we all have a source of healing within ourselves, and I want to help you connect to yours!
My Approach
As a trauma-informed psychologist, I understand how past experiences shape your present in ways you might not always expect. My role is to help you uncover those patterns while giving you practical tools to shift them.
I integrate several evidence-based therapies based on your unique needs, including:
CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia) – the gold standard for sleep concerns, recommended by sleep medicine guidelines.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy – Level 2 trained; effective for trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and improving self-compassion.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) – for trauma, phobias, grief, and stuck beliefs like “I’m not good enough” or “I can’t trust myself.”
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – for anxiety, depression, burnout, ADHD management, OCD, and binge eating.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) – for stress, chronic pain, anxiety, and improving emotional regulation.
Motivational Interviewing (MI) – for health behavior change and reducing ambivalence about life transitions.
I also use a measurement-based approach, which means we track your progress regularly. This ensures therapy is effective, and we can adjust your plan if needed. My clients often say they appreciate that I “get” both people and data. Therapy is a collaborative process, and my goal is to support you in feeling more connection in your life, whether that’s connection to yourself, relationships, career or purpose.
A Little About Me
(Outside the Therapy Room)
I’m married to an engineer, and we’re raising our adventurous toddler together. I love traveling (I’ve been to 22 countries so far), playing on a women’s soccer team, and spending time outdoors. (Fun fact: I got my boating license at 16, and I learned to sail while living in Boston during my internship year at Harvard.)
I grew up on the border in South Texas, which gave me a deep love of different cultures and perspectives. Even as a kid, I found myself drawn to helping others. I remember creating little interventions and reward systems to help my younger sister face her fears long before I knew what psychology was. Later, while working part-time in a Montessori school during my undergraduate years, I secretly loved the kids who misbehaved the most. To me, they weren’t “problems,” they were bright, curious, often just bored, and already experimenting with how to navigate the world socially, push limits, and influence others. I could see their potential, even when others focused on their behavior.
Those experiences still shape my work today: I’m curious about the parts of us that others overlook, I believe misbehavior often masks brilliance, and I know that the parts of you that feel “too much” or “not enough” are often just old strategies that once protected you but no longer serve you.
Credentials & Past Experience
I am a licensed psychologist with more than a decade of clinical experience. My doctoral degree in clinical psychology required six years of graduate training, including extensive supervised work in psychotherapy, assessment, and clinical research before licensure. My training included work with both adults and children, giving me a lifespan perspective that informs my practice today.
In addition to private practice, I’ve worked on multidisciplinary teams in large academic medical centers, where I became skilled at collaborating with physicians and using measurement-based care (tracking progress with data to guide treatment decisions). I have also served as a consultant on clinical trials and conducted research in behavioral medicine. Beyond clinical work, I give talks at professional conferences, provide continuing education to colleagues, and have been featured as a mental health expert on national TV. These roles keep me at the forefront of evidence-based treatments, while my private practice allows me to bring that expertise into a compassionate, personalized setting. I continue to invest in my professional growth through advanced trainings, academic conferences, consultation, and personal therapy.
