Former Staff Psychologist, Vanderbilt University
My pronouns are: she/her/hers
Hello! I’m glad you’re here.
I’m a licensed psychologist who works with adults and couples experiencing anxiety, work stress, relationship difficulties, and significant life changes. I also provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), an emerging area of specialization in my practice supported by additional training and ongoing consultation. Online therapy is available throughout Texas and participating PSYPACT states, including Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Colorado, and others (full list here).
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and capable, yet find themselves feeling anxious, disconnected, or uncertain about what comes next. You may have difficulty asking others for support, or you may spend so much time caring for others that your own needs become difficult to recognize. Perhaps you are navigating a major transition, managing competing demands, or noticing patterns in your relationships that you would like to understand and change.
Therapy with me is warm and conversational, but it is also active and direct. I want you to feel comfortable being honest about what is difficult while knowing that I will offer meaningful feedback, ask thoughtful questions, and help you translate insight into change. We may laugh together, sit with uncomfortable emotions, examine longstanding patterns, or work collaboratively to solve a problem that feels overwhelming.
Rather than fitting you into a predetermined treatment model, we will develop an approach informed by your needs, strengths, background, relationships, and goals. Together, we can help you better understand yourself, respond to challenges more intentionally, and build a life that feels healthier and more connected.
Kind Words From Our Professional Community
“She is extremely ethical, very compassionate, and effective with her clients. She is an outstanding psychologist.”
— Todd Weinman, PhD, Retired Director, Vanderbilt University Counseling Center
Who I Help
I work with adults across the lifespan who may be experiencing:
Anxiety, excessive worry, perfectionism, or self-doubt
Work stress, burnout, or difficulty balancing competing responsibilities
Insomnia or anxiety about sleep
Career, family, health, relationship, or identity-related transitions
Difficulty identifying needs, setting boundaries, or asking for support
Relationship concerns, recurring interpersonal patterns, or couples conflict
Life transitions can occur at any age. Beginning a career, entering or leaving a relationship, becoming a parent, caring for family members, adjusting to health changes, approaching retirement, or reconsidering what you want from the next chapter of your life can all bring unexpected challenges. Therapy can provide a place to understand what is changing, clarify what matters to you, and move forward with greater intention.
My Approach
I take an integrative approach, which means I draw from several established therapy models rather than using the same intervention with every client or following a rigid protocol. Together, we will consider what is bringing you to therapy, what may be contributing to the problem, and whether you would benefit most from practical strategies, exploration of emotional and relationship patterns, or a combination of both.
Throughout therapy, I will also help you recognize the strengths, values, and capacities you already possess. You will not be expected to select a treatment model yourself. We will discuss what seems most relevant to your concerns and preferences, monitor how therapy is progressing, and adjust our approach when needed.
Depending on your needs, our work may include:
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and DBT-informed strategies can help you identify patterns among your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors; manage distress; communicate more effectively; and practice new ways of responding in daily life.
-
Interpersonal, relational, emotion-focused, and psychodynamic approaches can help you understand how past experiences and current relationships influence the way you see yourself, express your needs, set boundaries, and connect with others. We may emphasize this work when you recognize that a pattern keeps repeating but are unsure why or how to change it.
-
RLT helps partners identify the patterns driving conflict or disconnection, communicate more directly, take responsibility for their contributions to the relationship, and strengthen their connection. I help couples move beyond simply understanding a pattern and begin changing how they respond to each other in daily life.
-
CBT-I is the first-line, evidence-based treatment for chronic insomnia. It addresses the behavioral, cognitive, and physiological patterns that perpetuate difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, waking too early, or feeling anxious about sleep. CBT-I is an emerging area of specialization in my practice. I am completing additional training and receiving ongoing consultation.
A Little About Me
(outside of the therapy room)
When I’m not working, you can usually find me spending time with my dog, Fletcher, baking something sweet, playing kickball, or following sports. I am a die-hard sports fan and appreciate the connection, excitement, and friendly competition that come with being part of a team.
I bring some of that same spirit into therapy. I value collaboration, honesty, perseverance, and humor. Therapy can involve serious and emotionally demanding work, but it can also include moments of warmth, relief, and laughter. I want you to feel that you are talking with a real person who is genuinely interested in understanding you and invested in helping you move toward the life and relationships you want.
Credentials & Past Experience
I have 13 years of clinical experience, including seven years practicing as a licensed psychologist. Before becoming licensed, I completed six years of doctoral training that included supervised experience in psychotherapy, psychological assessment, and clinical research.
Before joining Tella Psychology, I spent four years as a staff psychologist at Vanderbilt University’s counseling center in Nashville, Tennessee. I subsequently worked in private practice, providing individual and couples therapy to adults experiencing anxiety, relationship concerns, identity development, professional stress, and significant life transitions.
My clinical experience has included working with adults from varied backgrounds and at many stages of life. It has also shaped my interest in how relationships, culture, identity, and life experiences influence the ways we understand ourselves and connect with others.
